The orange weather alert for Cork remains in operation until 9 o'clock this morning
The city and county continues to be hit by strong winds and heavy rain and concerns have been expressed about high spring tides
While localised flooding has been reported across the city and county
A tidal surge is predicted in the city at 8.15am with a warning that low lying streets may be hit with high water levels
Speaking to RedFM News Laurence Owens of Cork Business Association says people should take all necessary precautions just in case:
Elsewhere in the county precautionary measures have been put in place but concern has been expressed that towns such as Youghal, Midleton and Bantry could be at risk of flooding due to tidal flooding
Cork County Council's Aiden Weir says these surges due to hit between 7am and 8am could be up to half a metre
