Over 1,000 people sign petition objecting to plans for M20 Cork/Limerick Motorway navy route
Over 1,000 people have signed a petition in objection to the proposed Navy Route for the M20 Cork/Limerick Motorway.
Plans for the route have been met with stiff opposition by locals living in the vicinity of Whitechurch and Blarney who have formed a campaign group and say if the route gets the go ahead it will have a devastating impact on many people in the area including many home owners and some local farmers who could lose land through compulsory purchase orders.
The group held a number of online meetings with local representatives and engineers yesterday and say they're very anxious ahead of the public consultation deadline for submissions on the route this Friday, and they say while the understand the route is necessary there are alternative locations.
Spokesperson of the 'No to M20 Navy Route Group' Deirdre Hosford outlined some of the concerns to RedFM News:
