Over 100,000 people across Cork City and County are without power

Storm Ophelia continues to batter the country with severe winds

The ESB say they have displaced crews to make safe any power lines that have been damaged but say the scale of the damage has now surpassed Storm Darwin in 2014.

They say they are currently conducting a damage assessment in order to put together a repair plan for the coming days.

The ESB  are reminding the public not to attempt to remove anything from fallen power lines and to contact them on 1850372999.

Across the country more than 360 thousand homes and businesses are now without power.

Corporate Affairs Manager with ESB Networks Bernadine Moloney says people may be without power for several days
