Over 40,000 homes and businesses across Cork have been knocked off the power grid due to Storm Ellen
Towns across West Cork are among the worst hit due to the severity of the storm, 792 customers are without power in Ballincollig and over 700 customers in the Buttevant area have no electricity this morning
ESB repair crews have been working since first light to restore power however they are working in very difficult conditions particularly in West Cork with flooding and a large number of trees down
Cork was one of the worst affected counties with gusts of 143 kilometres an hour recorded at Roches Point last night.
