Plans For Second Deep Water Terminal In Cobh Welcomed By Spike Island Management

Plans by the Port of Cork to put a second cruise terminal into Cobh have been welcomed by management at Spike Island.

t comes as the tourist attraction is basking in the glory of being crowned Europe’s leading tourist destination for 2017.

Cobh was also named the second best cruise destination in Western Europe earlier this year, with plans to extend the deep water quay to accommodate more cruise ships in the pipeline for 2020.

The Port of Cork expects this would greatly increase the tourism potential in the Cork Harbour area, with an extra 50,000 cruise passengers arriving per year.

Speaking to RedFM News Spike Island General Manager John Crotty says they plans are ambitious, but now is the time to seize the opportunity for further growth:
