Rapid Response Doctor Based In West Cork Says Teenage Discos In The Area Are Safe
However he has called for the culture of drink and drugs among teenagers to be tackled
A Rapid Response Doctor based in West Cork says teenage discos in the area are safe but the culture of drink and drugs among teenagers needs to be tackled
Dr Jason Van Der Velde has described the discos as hub where teenagers are kept safe and says they play an essential part of harm reduction strategies
On Friday night West Cork Rapid Response issued a call for greater responsibility among parents when monitoring children socialising.
The request, which was made on Twitter, claimed that teenagers in Clonakilty on Friday night, were having a "drug-fuelled night out" and wasting "valuable response resources".
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show on Cork's RedFM Dr Jason Van Der Velde says gardai, medical staff and disco venues are regularly left to cover costs surrounding anti-social behaviour
