Rent Supplement Payments Not Keeping Pace With Rent Rises
The average rent in Cork city has risen by over 10%
Just 9% of all properties available to rent at the beginning of the month were within reach of people on rent supplement or HAP payments.
A new report from the Simon Communities shows the once off increase in state housing benefits in July last year provided a brief respite for people, however its not keeping pace with the rental market
The average rent in Cork city has risen by over 10% and now stands at €1100 while rents in the county average over €800
