Save Cork City Group Says New Report Criticises The Flood Relief Plans For Cork

The group are continuing to propose the erection of a tidal barrier

A potentially dangerous project for Cork

That's how the Cork flood relief scheme has been described in a report by hydrology experts HR Wallingford who were commissioned by Save Cork City who are opposed to the OPW plans.

This week the group was granted leave to mount a judicial review of the decision to proceed with the flood relief works at Morrisons Island which the Council says will provide vital flood defence for the area.

Save Cork City are proposing the erection of a tidal barrier as they say this latest report points out that the water in the river could breech the flood defence walls along the quays in the future and pose serious risk to life

In statement issued to RedFM News in the last hour, Minister Kevin "Boxer" Moran says that while he is "anxious" for the project to proceed as quickly as possible he "fully respects the right of any citizen to bring matters to the Courts"

Speaking to RedFM News, John Hegarty from Save Cork City detailed one of the groups main concerns with the plan
