SPECIAL REPORT: Raising Awareness About Stillbirth, Two Cork Mothers Speak Out
Between 30 and 35 babies are still born every year in Cork University Maternity Hospital.
Baby Isabelle from Cobh was diagnosed with a fatal condition in pregnancy and was stillborn almost four years ago.
Her mother Collette O'Toole says there's a secrecy around the subject and it's very hurtful for mothers whose babies were stillborn and are not acknowledged because it's a topic that just isn't spoken about.
Pictured are Collette O’Toole, her husband Tom, their daughter baby Isabelle, and their son Cillian.
Between 30 and 35 babies are still born every year in Cork University Maternity Hospital and management there say still birth is ten times more common than cot death but the topic doesn't get enough attention and awareness is needed.
