State Pathologist To Carry Out Examination Of Human Remains Found Outside Midleton Yesterday
Workmen were clearing the route of the proposed Midleton to Youghal greenway when they discovered a skull
The scene at Shanty Gate which is about 3 kilometres east of Midleton was cordoned off when the workmen discovered the skull at around 4pm yesterday.
Local Gardaí quickly cordoned off the area and requested the services of the State Pathologist's Office.
Gardaí have made very little comment about the find, but its believed to be the skull of a male and may even be historic.
Dr Margaret Bolster is due to visit the scene early this morning and Gardaí are expected to carry out a search of the area to search for other remains.
