The Tánaiste has weighed in on the ongoing situation between Cork firefighters and Cork City Council and says the situation needs to be resolved quickly as strike action looms.
Over the weekend Cork City firefighters voted overwhelmingly in favour of strike action as their dispute with Cork City Council over back-pay linked to pay restoration continues.
Meanwhile Cork City Council says it cannot pay them back-pay until they comply in full with the terms of the Public Service Agreement.
Speaking to RedFM News Tánaiste Simon Coveney has appealed to both sides to engage with eachother to resolve the situation:
