Taoiseach Says Nothing Set In Stone Regarding Reopening Of Indoor Hospitality
Micheál Martin was speaking at Páirc Uí Chaoimh in the past hour after he received his second Covid-19 vaccine
The government are due to make a decision about the reopening on Tuesday however it's understood that members of the cabinet are split on whether to reopen on July 19th or a week later on the 26th.
The government have met with representatives of the hospitality sector and will choose one of six options next week.
Speaking to RedFM News at Páirc Uí Chaoimh, the Taoiseach says caution is needed due to the Delta Variant:
"We understand, of course, the impatience of the sector to get reopened. But I think, so far as a country, everything we've reopened, we've kept open. And it's been good progress, from bringing back construction, retail, personal services, as well as education services. We want to protect that progress as the Delta variant is getting stronger, and is spreading more and more."
