Teachers reconsider profession due to pay
Under current legislation, teachers who graduated after 2011 earn 10% less than their colleagues, for doing the same work
30% of teachers across county Cork do not see themselves in the profession in 10 years time.
That's according to the President of the TUI Joanne Irwin who says discrimination in regard to pay, has caused many teachers to reconsider their choice of profession.
Pay equality was high on the agenda as the Minister for Education Richard Bruton addressed over 500 delegates at their annual conference at the Clayton Siversprings Hotel today.
Speaking to RedFM News TUI President Joanne Irwin says it's frustrating for teachers who feel they have no choice but to leave the job.
