Thousands Without Water Across Cork Overnight
Thousands of households and traders were without water in the city centre overnight.
Irish Water and the City Council temporarily shut down the water supply at Cork Lower Reservoir at 11 o'clock last night to faciliate repair work on an old water main at risk of bursting following a major burst in the city centre last week.
Up to 35,000 people are expected to be affected by the supply interruption in the city centre and surrounding areas.
The company said water supply would be restored to all areas by 7 o'clock this morning.
