Gardai seized €250,000 worth of cannabis following the discovery of a growhouse in Fermoy
Three men have been remanded in custody after they were charged in connection to the seizure of €250,000 worth of cannabis.
They were brought before a special sitting of Mallow District Court this afternoon following the discovery of a cannabis growhouse with over 300 cannabis plants.
The three foreign nationals 38 year old Malaysian Kim Wong, 50 year old Hong Kong-born British citizen Kim Chueng Johnson Liao , and 56 year old Serbian born Zoran Spasich were arrested following a raid by Gardai at an old Victorian house on the Rathhealy Road in Fermoy.
All three men whose addresses were provided as No Fixed Abode were charged with the possession of cannabis for sale or supply.
Kim Wong was charged with a second offece for failing to produce a valid passport or equivalent ID when requested by Gardai.
An examination of the scene is underway by Garda technical experts who believe the scene relates to a series of growhouses in semi-derelict properties run by a Chinese Triad gang.
All three men are due to appear before Fermoy District Court next Friday.
