Traders Call For Urgent Action To be Taken To Protect The City Centre From Flooding
They're appealing for the flood defence plans for Morrison's Island not to be delayed
Urgent action has to be taken to protect the city centre from flooding.
That's according to Rob Horgan of Cafe Velo on George's quay who says flood defence plans for Morrison's Island in the city should not be delayed.
His comments follow a succesful application by Save Cork City for a Judicial review of City Hall's €6 million plan yesterday.
The group says the plans are in breach of EU environmental law due to its potential effect on protected habitats and claims it will devastate the heritage of the city and negatively affect the local economy.
The case will be heard in the High Court in October
Speaking to RedFM News, Rob Horgan of Cafe Velo says businesses need to be protected
