UCC Students Urged To Examine Digs As An Accommodation Option

Students are being urged to consider staying in 'digs' as the hunt for college accommodation heats up.

Over 70,000 people will get their leaving cert results next week driving up demand for homes near campuses.

The latest figures show a record number of bedrooms now being rented in family homes.

Students who are lucky enough to get accomodation on campus are facing average bills of up to €6,000 a year and these figures jump substantially if they have to turn to the private rental market 

Kelly Coyle, is welfare officer at UCC student union and she says due to the lack of affordable rental properties they're advising students to look at digs instead
