Vera Twomey defends trip to Spain to purchase medicinal cannabis
A Cork mother who had medicinal cannabis seized at Dublin airport last Friday has hit out at claims that it was as publicity stunt.
Vera Twomey has been campaigning for medicinal cannabis legislation for her seven-year-old daughter Ava who suffers from a rare form of epilepsy and travelled to Barcelona last week to buy THC cannabis medication for her.
She was accompanied on her trip to Spain by MEP Luke ‘Ming’ Flanagan and People Before Profit TD Gino Kenny - She delcared the substance and all three were arrested but were later released without charge.
Emotions ran high on the Neil Prendeville Show this morning when one caller to the show questioned Vera about her motives and asked her why she declared the substance:
