Warning Issued By Cork City Fire Service Ahead Of Bonfire Night
A stark warning has been issued by Cork City Fire Service ahead of Bonfire Night this weekend
Firefighters say bonfires containing hazardous material can result in serious injury or even death and they're appealing to anyone planning on lighting a bonfire this weekend to keep fires small, controlled and free from dangerous materials.
The annual bonfire night celebration is the busiest night of the year for the City's fire service, with 100 callouts in 2016 and 50 last year.
Cork City Council is hosting five family friendly events in public parks across the city tomorrow.
This year marks the 11th year of the event which has significantly reduced the number of illegal bonfires.
Speaking to RedFM News, Victor Shine from Cork City Fire Service says some materials should never be used in bonfires
