Whitechurch And Waterloo Locals Rally Together To Oppose Waterloo Junction Closure Plans

Over 250 people attended a public meeting last night to protest at the proposed closure of the junction

Locals in Whitechurch and Waterloo have rallied together to oppose Council plans to permanently close the Waterloo junction on the N20

Over 250 people attended a public meeting last night to protest at the proposed closure of the junction which has been the scene of a fatal and a number of serious road crashes..

Residents expressed their anger at the failure to re-open the junction after repaving works with some claiming that the closure risks moving higher volumes of traffic onto minor roads which could increase the risk of accident and injury

Locals have vowed to keep the pressure on politicians, the County Council and Transport Infrastructure Ireland to secure a meeting to directly level their concerns about the closure.

Speaking to RedFM News at last night's meeting Fianna Fail TD Billy Kelleher says if the junction is closed it would cut the community in two..
