Wives and partners of Cork members of the Defence Forces mount protest in Newbridge

The peacful protest march is a means to highlight the pay and conditions of their loved ones

Members of the Defence Forces are not permitted to protest and two months ago their wives and partners mounted similar demonstrations outside barracks across the country including Colllins Barracks and Haulbowline Naval Base... 

The group say at least one in four enlisted personnel are on Family Income Supplement and they say the wages are disrespectful given the nature of their partner's jobs.

Shelley Cotter from Cork has been protesting with the group and she outlined to RedFM News what she hopes today's protest will achieve
