Women's refuge in Cork plan to expand
It comes amid concerns from locals who vow to object the possible expansion.
Management of a women's refuge in Cork city say they will be lodging planning permission next month to enlarge their facility despite locals concerns.
Locals living in the vicinity of Edel House in Grattan St have vowed to object to the expansion plans as they claim the centre is contributing to social problems in the area.
The residential centre which provides accomodation for homeless girls, women and children has in recent months been operating to full capacity and operating a waiting list.
The CEO of Edel House Tony O'Riordan says while they have plans to enlarge the facility to give people adequate accommodation they will not be increasing the number of women in the facility.
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show Tony says they don't approve of anti social behaviour and operate a strong code of conduct in the centre.
