Taoiseach says vaccines bring hope that the end is in sight

The Taoiseach has acknowledged that people need hope as we work our way through this current Covid Lockdown.
Michéal Martin says the rapid development of the vaccines against Covid-19 in less than a year bring great hope that an end is in sight to the pandemic
His comments come as GPs say the logistical challenges posed by the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines can be overcome, and rollout to over 70s in their clinics could start next week.
The Taoiseach has acknowledged that lockdown has had an impact on every sector of society but says it's important to remain steady on the course of action that will lead us out the other side of this pandemic
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show on Cork's RedFM Taoiseach Michéal Martin says numbers have dropped significantly and as the vaccines are rolled out over the next few months things will change.
"Well I think we can give people hope, as the vaccination rolls out things will be different.
"I think April, May, June will be significant vaccination months, and things will change then.
"People will not be trapped in their homes until the end of the year, in that respect things will change as we move through the spring.
"There is a goal here, and the good news this year is we have vaccines. We didn't have vaccines last year, that's the big change.
"I think we're starting to see mortality does decline and illness does decline as vaccines are rolled out to greater numbers within the population - that's the hope."
