The Corrs are a folk rock band that consists of four siblings from Dundalk in Co. Louth. They formed as a band in 1990 with Andrea on lead vocals, Sharon on violin, Caroline on drums and general percussion & Jim on guitar and piano. They cite the likes of The Eagles, The Police, The Carpenters and Fleetwood Mac as influences on their music.
The band have six studio albums ranging from their debut release Forgiven, Not Forgotten in 1995 to their comeback album White Light this year. Their most successful album to date is their 1998 album Talk On Corners which reach multi-platinum status in Australia and was the highest selling album in the UK for that year.
The Corrs were nominated for two Grammy Awards in 2001, one for Breathless and one for their instrumental song Rebel Heart.
They have won one BRIT Award in 1999 and have been nominated for Meteor Music Awards in 2005 & 2006.
Jim, Sharon and Caroline all had small parts as musicians in the 1991 film The Commitments with Andrea having a speaking part. It was through filming The Commitments that the quartet were noticed.
They played at the 1994 FIFA World Cup in Boston after the American ambassador to Ireland invited them to play after spotting them in Whelan's in Dublin. They have also supported Celine Dion on her worldwide Falling Into You Around The World Tour.
The band took a hiatus in 2006 with the band raising their families and pursuing solo careers before reforming to release a new album and tour in 2016.
This is The Corrs first appearance at Live At The Marquee.
