Cork's Fiona Shaw Wins BAFTA While Derry Girls Misses Out On Award

Cork's Fiona Shaw took home a BAFTA last night for Best Supporting Actress.

The Cobh native picked up the award for her role in the hit show Killing Eve. Shaw faced competition from Billie Piper in Collateral, Keeley Hawes in Mrs Wilson and Monica Dolan in A Very English Scandal.

Upon winning the award, Shaw paid tribute to the show creator Pheobe Waller-Bridge's "earth-shattering genius and wayward imagination."

She added that the role was "probably the greatest pleasure" in her life and that she was indebted to the writer "for life".

Meanwhile Derry Girls missed out on the award for Best Scripted Comedy to Sally4ever starring Catherine Shepherd, Julia David and Alex Macqueen.
