Design POP, Ireland’s First Design and Food Festival Launches in Cork

A host of well-known faces from the worlds of design and food gathered in the River Lee Hotel to launch Design POP, Ireland’s first food and design festival coming to Cork city this May 17-19.

The Lord Mayor of Cork, Councillor Mick Finn and Design POP founder, Amy McKeogh welcomed guests and detailed all of the exciting events happening throughout the festival weekend.

Guests including blogger Natasha Crowley and Bo Browne from Cork Chamber enjoyed refreshments and mingled with the six designers and food producers collaborating on six custom pavilions across Cork city. Attendees were also given the first look of the pavilion designs that will be found in Nano Nagle Place, Bishop Lucey Park, Emmet Place, Cornmarket Street, Elizabeth Fort and the boardwalk, Lapp’s Quay.

Top Design POP designers, Conor Merriman, Fior Studios, JCA Architects, Alex Pentek, Shane O’Driscoll and Meitheal Design exhibited work at the launch. Food producers, Good Day Deli, All Full Up, My Goodness, SOMA, Banana Melon Kitchen and Applebee Bakes treated guests to a selection of their delicious snacks that will be on offer throughout Design POP.

Overlooking the River Lee, guests learned all about the exhibitions, lectures, workshops and discussions taking place in the Crawford Art Gallery and Thompson House that will centre around championing homegrown and international talent. The full schedule will be announced next week detailing where to find tickets and the timings of each event.

Design POP kicks off at 12pm on Friday, May 17th and finishes on Sunday, May 19th at 5pm. Discover Cork through this innovative design and food trail that is sure to be a fun filled weekend for all.
