Former Britain's Got Talent Contestant Signs Major US Record Deal
Britain's Got Talent has produced some impressive stars!
The most recent act making an impression in the music industry is Calum Scott. The singer appeared in last year's show and despite high praise with Simon Cowell awarding him his golden buzzer, Scott only finished sixth in the final.
It was expected that Calum would be signed to Cowell's label Syco but that wasn't to be. This may have been a blessing in disguise for the singer as he has now landed himself a major record deal with Capitol Records in America who have the likes of Sam Smith and Gavin James in their books.
The singer previously said: “I didn’t get picked up by Syco but the ball didn’t get dropped, which is something I was really happy about.
“I was worried people would think that’s it, done, I had my few moments of fame. One of the things I did think was that if I wasn’t picked up by Syco, maybe that was it for me.
“But I’ve been given some amazing opportunities. I feel everything happens for a reason.”
Calum experienced some success in the charts recently with his cover of Robyn's Dancing On My Own which landed in the UK Top 40 without any radio plays.
The singer tweeted his excitement of being signed to the famous Los Angeles based label.
SO stoked to announce that I'm now a SIGNED RECORDING ARTIST to @CapitolRecords @UMG ???? Thank you to all involved! pic.twitter.com/cEhZAyPIUK
