AUDIO: Kanturk are Munster Champions

Kanturk are the 2017 Munster Intermediate Hurling Champions after a thrilling extra time battle against Kilmaley of Clare.

The Cork champions led by three points at half time and stretched their advantage to six points with a goal through Liam O'Keeffe in the 42nd minute, but Kilmaley rallied and levelled it with ninety seconds to go before taking a one point lead in injury time.

Kanturk corner back Paul Walsh with a run from defence found the remarkable equalising score to send the game to extra time.

Donagh Duanes side regained control in the first period of extra time and again went three points ahead, however Kilmaley still were not beaten, Cian Maloney registered two late free's while a final placed ball at the death was just inches off target and from the following restart the referee blew the full time whistle to allow Kanturk register their victory at 1-23 to 0-25.

Kanturk will now play Kilburn Gaels of London in the All Ireland Club Championship quarter final in Ruislip in two weeks time.
