Valley Rovers & Cork GAA Winners after Pairc Ui Chaoimh Opener

With almost 11,000 turning out for the opening game at Pairc Ui Chaoimh it was a largely positive reaction to the new Stadium.

On the pitch Valley Rovers recorded a comfortable win over Blarney Rovers in their Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship round three fixture.

The history books will note Chris O'Leary as the first scorer in the redeveloped venue, while the Cork forward registered twelve points in all (0-07 Frees) in the 1-21 to 1-08 victory.

Valleys Selector Neil O'Sullivan gave Red FM Sport his reaction after the game

A huge honour for the Hurlers of Valley Rovers and Blarney to be the first to grace this pitch but last night was about more than the action on the field as thousands of neutrals flocked to see the facilities and sample the different vantage points.

We spoke to some spectators after the game for their thoughts on the new stadium.

The reaction was largely positive, though parking remains a major issue...

While Valley Rovers progress to the Premier Intermediate Quarter Finals against Mallow, next up for Pairc Ui Chaoimh it's the All Ireland Hurling Quarter Finals taking place on Saturday and Sunday with sell out crowds of 45,000 expected on both days.
