Cork County Board ordered to pay over €300,000 as part of the cost to improve lighting around its grounds
The echo reports that the sum determined by An Bord Pleanála is over five times what the board had offered to pay
An Bord Pleanála has decided that the GAA must pay just over €307,000 towards the cost of lighting improvements around the grounds and on the roads leading up to Páirc Ui Chaoimh.
In 2020 the City Council estimated that the improvements would cost total of €1.1 million and that the GAA would be expected to contribute half that sum to complete the works.
An inspector with An Bord Pleanála said the improvements are neccessary for people leaving the facilities after dark as parts of the Marina and The Old Rail Way Line are still unlit.
The issue was raised with An Bord Pleanalá by Cork City Council as they had been struggling to agree on an amount with the Courk County GAA board, and the planning aurthority has ruled that a contribution of just €300,000 is required.
