Cork MABS Urges People To Avoid Using Money Lenders For Communion Celebrations

Last year parents spent an average of €845 on First Communions
The Cork branch of the Money, Advice and Budgeting Service has advised parents preparing for Communions and Confirmations to avoid using money lenders where possible.
The organisation says that in recent years the sacraments have become one of the top financial concerns for their clients.
Last year parents spent an average of €845 on First Communions , up 1% on 2016.
Make-up/hair for girls was among the top costs with parents spending an average of €41 per child.
Speaking to RedFM News Margaret O'Neill of the Cork branch of MABS says now is the time to start budgeting and being realistic about expenditure, especially for those considering taking out a loan:
