Cork residents could take legal action following court ruling on flooding

It follows severe flooding in November 2009.
It's expected a court ruling which found ESB liable for 60% of damages to UCC as a result of the 2009 floods will give Mardyke residents confidence to take legal action.
UCC on behalf of its insurer Aviva made claims in relation to the ESB's operation of two of its dams in the River Lee which they say resulted in significant damage to many of their buildings.
Some residents have already taken legal action and the remainder have until next month when a statute of limitations kicks in and a claim can no longer be filed.
Spokesman for the Mardyke residents Barry Keane told RedFM News an apology is also needed as compensation can't replace everything.
