Deadline for those affected by floods fast approaching

The deadline for those affected by the 2009 floods in Cork to take legal action is looming.

A statute of limitations kicks in next month and a claim can no longer be filed beyond this point.

It's expected this deadline accompanied by a commercial court ruling this week where ESB was found liable for 60% of flood damages to UCC will result in a number of cases being filed. 

UCC on behalf of its insurer Aviva made claims in relation to the ESB's operation of two of its dams in the River Lee which they say resulted in significant damage to many of their buildings.  

The ESB has since decided to appeal the judgement.
