Decision to paint over a mural on a landmark building in Cork receives backlash from the public

The street art on the wall of the former Kino Cinema was painted over yesterday
The image depicts a masked woman wearing a t-shirt of local band the Frank and Walters on the wall.
The new owner of the Kino defended his decision to paint over the image and said the wall was cracking and in need of work.
He had contacted the Cork urban artist behind the original artwork to discuss plans for another mural however the artist was unvailable due to other commitments.
According to a report in the Irish Examiner a local street artist is due to commence work on a new mural today as renovations continue at the Kino ahead of it's relaunch as a cafe and music venue.
