Diageo exits 'Stop out of control drinking' campaign

Diageo has removed itself from the board of the 'Stop out of control drinking' campaign, after criticism that the drinks giant undermined its independence. A statement from the head of Diageo Ireland, David Smith, says he's pulling out after board members were put under pressure because of a perceived lack of independence. The company's involvement had provoked a large amount of controversy, however it will continue to provide funding. The Chair of the campaign, Fergus Finlay, says the board was always fully independent, and he believes a campaign was mounted to undermine their work. Click the PLAY button above to hear.
