An FBI investigation is under way after a female student was filmed being dragged by an officer across a classroom in South Carolina.
The Justice Department says it's opened a federal civil rights inquiry into the confrontation.
The pupil was being disruptive when she was tipped backwards out of her chair on to the floor on Monday afternoon.
The incident was captured by other students on their mobile phones.
