HSE urged to offer all expectant Mums detailed ultra sounds

Last year over 8,000 births were registered at Cork University Maternity Hospital however the majority of these woman cannot routinely access the second trimester scan

The lack of detailed scans for expectant Mums has been likened to "walking in darkness" by a mother whose newborn daughter died from a congenital heart defect which went undetected during her pregnancy.

Jazmine Sands daughter Isabella died on the 23rd of May - she was just 5 days old.

She has chosen to speak out now to urge expectant mothers to ask for detailed ultra sounds during their second trimester in an effort to spare them from the heartache her family has suffered..
