The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland is proposing to become a regulator for online video content across the EU.

The Sunday Independent says the plan to make the BAI a media commission has been put to government. 

The organisation would regulate companies such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

Currently, the BAI oversees radio and television broadcasting in Ireland.
