Locals Around UCC Hit Out At Decision To Hold Virtual Freshers Week
The SU are hosting A Series Of Virtual DJ Events Every Night For Freshers Week
Noel Doherty echoed the comments of the Magazine Rd Residents Association who say they're seriously concerned that hosting Freshers Week in any capacity will encourage house parties.
They're calling on the Students Union to cancel the virtual event and say it goes against a meeting that was held between them, the college, and gardaí last week.
Speaking to RedFM News Noel says house parties have already been taking place this week and students can be seen buying crates of alcohol the minute off licenses open, and the a virtual Freshers Week is irresponsible:
However UCC Students Union President Naoise Crowley told RedFM News that the point of the virtual Freshers Week is to prevent house parties while providing a social outlet for students that are currently experiencing college online:
