Mary McAleese says recent violence in Northern Ireland is a consequence of Brexit
Rioting involving youths from mainly loyalist areas has seen over 80 police officers injured
Yesterday marked the 23rd anniversary of the signing of the Good Friday Agreement.
Speaking to the BBC, former president Mary McAleese says many people in the loyalist communities are disillusioned and angry:
"When we go back to Brexit we realise how little consideration was given in, in the planning of Brexit in the referendum of the impact that would have on Northern Ireland, there's all of that, but you're also dealing with young people, regrettably, who are still being taught to hate."
