Nine Units Of Cork City And County Fire Brigade Battled A Major Fire In Churchfield Last Night
The fire broke out at the National Recycling Centre on John F. Connolly Road in Churchfield, with the alarm being raised at 7:45pm.
More than 20 firefighters from nine units across Cork city and county worked throughout the night to bring the blaze under control.
Large, black plumes of smoke could be seen for several miles.
Members of the public were asked to stay away from the scene and keep their windows and doors closed.
The cause of the fire is not yet known and RedFM has contacted the Garda Press Office for a statement.
In an update this morning, one unit of Cork City Fire Brigade remains at the scene to carry out a damping down operation.
Crews from Anglesea Street, Ballyvolane and a Water Tanker are currently dealing with a major fire in Churchfield off John F Connolly Road
