Staff At An Post's Mail Centre In Little Island Are To Be Offered Enhanced Severance Packages

The Labour Court made the recommendation amid ongoing calls for the mail centre to remain open.
The new terms for staff with more than two years service include an additional €10,000 lump sum for full time employees and €7,000 for part time employees under the age of 60.
The Irish Examiner reports that the Communication Workers' Union have described the new measures as 'favourable' however a break-away group of staff say they will continue to oppose the closure of the centre.
The centre is due to close in March next year with the loss of over 200 jobs.
