Taxi Drivers Say Their Voices Are The Last To Be Heard When It Comes To Transport

Up to 500 taxi drivers staged a demonstration in the city this morning

They called for financial support from the Government, clear guidelines on how they can operate, and a number of measures that would aid those in the sector including a buy-back scheme for drivers who want to leave the industry and a moratorium on new licenses.

They drove in convoy throughout the city from Blackrock before arriving at Taoiseach's constituency office. Chairman of the Cork Taxi Council Bobby Lynch told RedFM News at this morning's protest that they want a meeting with Mícheál Martin:
