Traders in the city are winding down after their first full day of business in months

Many are hoping pent up demand for things like clothing and jewellery will see a much needed boost in trade following one of the longest lockdowns in the world

It's been one of the busiest days in the city in recent memory and Patrick Keane from Keane's Jewellers told RedFM News that everyone is delighted to see it: 

"It has been absolutely phenomenal. From the moment parking the car and the car park this morning walking the streets the atmosphere from the the fellow traders, and the the shoppers in town. It's like middle of Christmas. Everybody's delighted to be back or have the doors open the light switched on, and it has been a fantastic year so far."

Denis Stanton from Gentleman's Quarters told RedFM News that traders will be relying on people supporting their local businesses: 

"Slow starting was kept busy, there's a lot of people come out of the sport local, so we need all the business we can get into city, weddings, people are talking a lot about, and there's certainly grades kids have been into there. The last year minister, There's been more five six plus patients."
