UPDATE- Pat Hickey faces three charges in Rio

Pat Hickey - the President of the Olympic Council of Ireland - faces three charges after he was arrested in Rio as part of an investigation into alleged illegal ticket sales.

The OCI has denied any wrongdoing whatsoever in the ticket touting scandal that has seen the arrest of one Irishman who allegedly had hundreds of tickets earmarked for team Ireland.

Police in Rio held a press conference earlier, where Pat Hickey's passport, his Olympic credentials, and a plane ticket were presented to the media.

In the past hour it emerged that Pat Hickey faces three charges  - facilitating touting, involvement in organising a cartel and illicit marketing and if found guilty of the three charges he faces up to seven years in prison  

The International Olympic Council  - of which Pat Hickey is a member - also held a press conference this afternoon.

The IOC Presidential spokesman Mark Adams told the gathered media that Pat Hickey is innocent until proven guilty
