Works On Ballinspittle Garda Station To Be Complete By End Of Year, Just 6 Years After It Closed

The station was closed as part of a nationwide money saving exercise by the Justice Department

Nine Garda stations across the city and county were closed in a move that the Government insisted was in an effort to free up Gardaí for frontline work elsewhere.

A review by the Policing Authority on the closures which showed that the State saved just 4 thousand euro a year from the closures.. recommended that some of these stations could be re-opened.

The Office of Public Works has today confirmed that works on the station in Ballinspittle will be complete by the end of the year and handed over to the Gardai at that time
