Concern Expressed About People Booking Flights To Ireland From The US This Weekend

It's ahead of the US being added to the mandatory quarantine list.

There's concern hundreds of people are booking flights to Ireland from the US this weekend - before it's added to the mandatory hotel quarantine list.

The Sunday Independent reports bookings from the likes of New York, Boston and Chicago have surged since Friday's announcement.

Anyone arriving in Ireland from the US after 4am on Thursday will have to spend two weeks in a quarantine hotel at their own cost.

Sinn Féin transport spokesperson Darren O'Rourke says more countries should be put on the list - on top of the 16 added on Friday:

"It's regrettable that it took so long for the government to stop bickering amongst themselves and to agree to follow their clear public health advice, I think there still are concerns that there are anomalies on the list, Sinn  Féin would propose that all non essential travel all arrivals, all non essential arrivals would be included on the list."
