Government Minister: 200,000 People Set To Be Fully Vaccinated Against Covid-19 Up To Two Months Early
It's due to the accelerated programme, which will allow 18 to 34 year olds get a Johnson and Johnson jab in a pharmacy from Monday
The HSE says there's been a 'phenomenal response' since the announcement was made yesterday.
Minister of State for Public Procurement, Ossian Smyth, says it will speed up the rollout a lot:
"I think that for many people, they will be vaccinated up to two months early. I think that we could potentially have 200,000 people fully vaccinated in quite a short period of time that weren't expected to be. And I think that's also added to the fact that we're getting 1 million extra vaccines from Romania which will fully vaccinate half a million people extra, so I think it really will compress the time that's needed to fully vaccinate the population."
