Phil Lynott's Mother Philomena Has Died Aged 88

Philomena Lynott, mother of Phil Lynott has passed away at the age of 88.

Philomena had been battling cancer for the past number of years and died this morning.

The mother of the Thin Lizzy frontman published the best-selling memoir My Boy written with Jackie Hayden, telling the story of Phil Lynott's upbringing in Manchester and Dublin and how he achieved fame through music.

One of Philomena's greatest achievements was her successful campaign to have a statue of her son erected on Henry Street, just off Dublin's Grafton Street.

Niall Stoke, editor of Hot Press said, "She was a formidable and brilliant women. I am really proud that we were able to participate in telling her remarkable story. Because she was indeed a remarkable women."
