Pop Up Outdoor Movie Screening Happening In Cork This Weekend
Cork film lovers can expect a summer evening of cinematic joy this coming Saturday, 20 May as Fitzgerald Park in the city centre will host another great pop up movie screening.
Following on from the Pawsitivity event happening in the park on the same day, the outdoor screening of Lethal Weapon is hosted by Happenings Cork who have teamed up with 7Up and Cork City Council to create fun events in public spaces. The Happenings concept works by taking advantage of good weather and instant communication to gather hundreds of happy people at a moment's notice.
Organisers hope that a favourable weather forecast this weekend will allow Cork film lovers to grab their mates and some picnic blankets for this blissful summer evening of cinematic joy, as the city centre park will be transformed into a pop-up outdoor cinema with entertainment and food.
Still considered one of the greatest cop movies of all time, the 1989 classic “Lethal Weapon” tells the story of Sergeants Riggs and Roger Murtaugh who have teamed up to tackle crime and corruption in downtown Los Angeles. Come celebrate this films 30th birthday with us for what is sure to be a memorable evening on the ground of Fitzgerald's Park, Cork.
“At Happenings we have some simple philosophies. We strive to give green public spaces beautiful open air events allowing people to enjoy their city in a meaningful way.” says Peter O’Brien, Happenings founder. “A personal responsibility action at our events is to Leave No Trace. Our audiences clean up the space by taking care of their own waste. We have an unlocked policy. This means we are unlocking the potential of public space and we do not have drunken madness at anytime. We aim to provide an alternative to pub based entertainment”
Tickets are available on www.happenings.ie or on the gate for €5 (plus booking fee). Gates open at 8.30pm. The film will begin at dusk.
